ROMANI in Action: Meeting in Sofia
As part of the ROMANI project, the Health and Social Development Foundation – HESED hosted a working meeting in Sofia dedicated to the development of the project activities and the experience gained through working with women from the community.

The meeting brought together participants who shared real-life experiences from the field, good practices, and challenges related to implementing the activities. The discussion provided an opportunity not only to review the progress of the project, but also to discuss concrete ideas for the next stages.

The main topics included:
- the development of ongoing activities and planning of the next steps;
- upcoming trainings and ways to make them even more practical and impactful;
- challenges in attracting and engaging participants;
- the organisation of activities and ways to make fieldwork more effective;
- sharing experience among those involved in implementing the project.

An especially important part of the meeting was the exchange of first-hand observations and stories from working with the community. This practical experience helps ensure that ideas are adapted to real needs and that effective, workable solutions can be identified.
ROMANI puts the voices, experiences, and perspectives of Roma women at the centre. The project creates spaces for participation, sharing, and development, where their stories are not simply told, but become a starting point for dialogue and action.
Because change begins when people are not only heard, but also given the opportunity to take part in decisions that affect their lives. This is the strength of ROMANI – turning voice into participation, participation into confidence, and confidence into real change.

The meeting in Sofia is another step forward towards a community where women have the space to express their ideas and become active participants in shaping change.
This publication is part of the ROMANI project, co-funded by the European Union.
