The “Let me tell you a secret (LTS): girls talk” project seeks solutions to pressing problems for the Roma community in Bulgaria, at the intersection between health education for girls and women, improving their quality of life and health by fostering better hygiene, reducing financial weight and effective management of funds within the family budget, and last but not least women’s rights and combating period poverty. The project aims to implement a program for ecological hygiene materials among the most vulnerable representatives of the Roma community and reduce the environmental impact of single-use diapers and menstrual pads that are just thrown out. The air pollution with toxic household waste is the second cause for air pollution in Sofia (after car traffic) which is the European capital with the dirtiest air, according to the European Environment Agency.
